the first house, dark long-run cladding protectively wraps around bedrooms, shielding them from the driveway and turning area. A tapering, open-ended volume mediates between the bedrooms and glazed living area below. The second house is single level. An open, larger living area, with maximised openings at wall and ceiling edges, is contrasted by the lower dark-clad bedroom wing. Design by Herriot + Melhuish
