Pouya Khazaeli Parsa completes new Persian villa designed for privacy

This project is a spatial dialogue between traditional Persian Architecture and aspects of modern architecture. It creates an architectural space through the incorporation of modern architecture tenets into traditional Persian architecture. This combination happens in a coherent way, to make a new space which has a different quality from what it has made.

The architect designed and made this house for his wife, who collaborated in the design process herself, although she is a painter and not an architect. Therefore it was a good opportunity for them to examine their new spatial idea. The house is located in a small village in north part of Iran, near the Caspian Sea. It is a humid green land which is in high contrast with the weather of Tehran (the capital), so because of this it is a location in which people who live in Tehran like to spend their weekends.

The architects says of the project: "In such a project there is always a paradox you should challenge with! You want to be free and do whatever you want in your residence, especially when you are on holiday, but in a traditional context like this it’s not possible according to the Islamic culture in the village! You want to drink, dance with your friends, sing and shout, you should be free to wear whatever you want and so on…

"At the same time there should exist a kind of relation to this traditional context! I believe in this project we could find a solution for this problem, but at the same time this problem creates a new method of architecture!"
