This new home project, completed in 2003 exemplifies the Casuarina Beach contemporary beach house style through the selection of form, materials, and climatic design elements.
The butterfly roof and plywood cladding subtly reference 1950’s beach house vernacular and are updated by cleanliness and a lamination of planar elements. Skewed on the site toward the street approach and northeast views, the house has an immediately relaxed presence amongst its neighbours. 
Entry to the house through the young adult’s lounge immediately establishes the home as a space for recreation. This room is in contrast to the upper levels where bedrooms are hidden and the internal spaces expand into a white, light filled volume with expansive views.
