Chicago inline for tallest building in US

Plans were unveiled this week for a stunning new tower on the Chicago lakeside. Designed by Santiago Calatrava for clients the Fordham Company, the building, located on a 2.2-acre site near the entrance to Navy Pier, will rise to a height of 1,458 feet (115 stories) and approximately 2,000 feet at the tip of its spire, making it the tallest building in the United States. Plans for the 920,000 square foot structure include a five-star hotel and 250 luxury condos. The design is based around a central core with each floor rotating 2º from the one below giving the facade an impression of movement.
